Meet Jon Tobin

Jon is one of a three-member leadership team at Tobin & Company that also includes his mother, Founder/CEO Justine Tobin, and Operations Manager Judi House. As a vice president of the Firm, Jon leads client projects and orchestrates client due diligence in all areas, including mergers and acquisitions and private placements. He reviews and approves offering circulars, leading our clients through a sometimes-complicated process with his approachable style and keen sense of organization. We send Jon into client meetings to counterbalance Justine’s hard-hitting and terse approach with his affable manner. Conversely, if he’s meeting with a client and it’s not going his way, he’ll warn them he’s bringing in “the bad guy.”

Prior to joining Tobin & Company, Jon worked in the financial services industry, most recently for Dimensional Fund Advisors. Before Dimensional Fund Advisors, Jon was a Financial Planning Consultant at Raymond James.

Jon was just five years old when his mother founded Tobin & Company.  He never expected to work at the Firm until one evening in January 2021 when he was helping Justine on a regulatory matter. She was so impressed with his work and relieved to have his support that she turned to him and said, “You know, you should just come work for me.” He surprised her by saying, “I’d love to.”

Jon anchors TOBIN’s Manhattan office but regularly works from home and an office outpost in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. He takes advantage of TOBIN’s virtual firm status, traveling extensively for pleasure while always being available to clients. Jon and his girlfriend, Caroline, plan to travel and work in Europe for several weeks this summer, making travel a more significant reality in his career. 

Jon is a graduate of North Carolina State University, where he earned a BS in Accounting. He is also an Eagle Scout. Jon holds his Series 7, 79, 24 and 66 licenses with FINRA. In his spare time, Jon enjoys snow skiing and hiking as well as traveling.
