Investment Banking Analyst Program

Tobin & Company Investment Banking Group’s Analyst Program provides young professionals a platform to develop and augment their skill set in the financial services industry to further their career. Participants in the program receive invaluable insight to the industry and gain banking experience that is highly transferable to both corporate and investment banking positions.

Generally, our analysts work with our firm for 4-6 months. Shorter and longer terms are acceptable. We expect each analyst to balance her full-time work experience at Tobin & Co. with an ongoing search for paid employment. Although the Analyst Program is unpaid, past analysts have found it to be a worthwhile investment of their time and energy. Each analyst has gone on to be hired outside the company, a point of pride for our program.

The Analyst Program gives candidates a robust exposure to investment banking. This isn’t a “grab coffee and make copies” position; the analyst will be exposed to building models and spreads, updating pitch books and writing offering documents on multiple deals. Experience and knowledge are gained through on-the-job training and direct interaction with senior staff and clients. The Analyst Program has also become recognized by outside companies as a solid training ground for prospective employees.

Our Charlotte Plaza office location in Uptown Charlotte provides great networking opportunities with other investment banks and financial institutions in the greater Charlotte area. Due to the time requirements of the program, analysts typically join the program post-graduation or while taking classes part-time.

We also offer unpaid summer and winter internships to students in undergraduate and graduate school who are looking to gain work experience in the investment banking industry during their academic breaks.

Qualified candidates possess the following skills:

  • • Coursework in finance and accounting
  • • Experience with Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • • Comprehension of company financial statements
  • • Keen attention to detail
  • • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • • Enthusiasm and open mindedness
